Soulcraft on the big stage at CeBIT

The Soulcraft game (showcase game for the good old v0.9.x DeltaEngine from the past) was updated today and is featured in the Windows 8 Game Store. It is also displayed at the CeBIT on the big stage as one of the Windows 8 games :)

BTW: If you want to meet us on the CeBIT, we will be there on Friday. Feel free to contact me.

Making Games Talents Hamburg Pics

Here are some pictures from the Making Games Talents event in Hamburg from last Saturday (November 3rd, 2012). This is me talking about the Delta Engine company and which people we are searching for:

This is where all the talks happened:

One of our VCs was also presenting itself (iVentureCapital, presented by Sandra Fisher). Didn't know that we were so special :D

Girls visiting our programmer booth? wtf? No one is going to believe this back home. They even wanted a job and had some nice art to show.

One major point of almost all companies was that they don't want to hire assholes or jerks. Gunnar Lott of flaregames was funny as hell in his usual form and was also making fun of browser companies all day.

Here you can see the HR head of Good Games (and behind him the HR head of Innogames, but only her behind is visible ^^). Then Marius Follert from Farbflut (known for Pennergame) and finally Gunnar Lott, myself and another startup in Hamburg Threaks (not on this pic).

Our audience got a little thin in the evening.

And last but not least this is Heiko Klinge from Making Games/GameStar/etc., the man behind this event:

Windows 8 Surface has arrived

Our Windows 8 Surface device has finally arrived and we just started testing our current Milestone 1 code on Windows 8 and the new Windows Phone 8 SDK. All works well thanks to SharpDX :)

Overall a nice device, but the screen reflects too much (like all other tablets we have, nothing new here). The keyboard is certainly integrated better than any other iOS or Android keyboard! Connecting my own desktop mouse or keyboard is also no problem, really good stuff. In the background you can also see our new Mac Mini (4x2.6ghz) for iOS Builds and the SSD on top which I still have to install.

Btw: On Saturday (3. November) we will be on the Making Games Talent event in Hamburg!

Soulcraft on the Windows 8 Launch Event

Soulcraft - a game powered by the Delta Engine - was part of the German Windows 8 Launch event yesterday. Here are some quick pictures:

Startup Tips Video

An employee had a problem with mocking graphical stuff and content loading on Friday. More on this in the next post. While working on Moq and Autofac to try some of these things out, I was watching a few startup videos and this one from Jason Nazar (docstoc.com) was the most interesting IMO. Some aggressive ideas, but it reminds me of me (working too much ^^):

Visiting Hannovers .NET user group

Today (in fact in about an hour) the .NET user group Hannover meets. Chris Eargle from Telerik talks about "Secrets of a .NET Ninja".

I will also attend, drink a beer and hopefully meet some new .NET friends :) If I like it I will continue to go these cool meetings (they meet every couple of months), lots of other .NET developers and while app development might be boring for game developers, C#, coding style and new technology and products keep things interesting.

SoulCraft @ Google I/O photo report

We are now back in good old Germany after an exciting week in San Francisco and as promised here are some pictures of MobileBits & SoulCraft at the Google I/O conference .. of course on Google Plus after being Google brainwashed for a week :)

Content wise it was great exchaning experiences with over 6000 other developers at this conference and we attending lots of great sessions which will hopefully help to improrve SoulCraft in the coming weeks. We surely have a long list of new ideas now!

So hopefully Google will have us again showing SoulCraft or maybe even a new game next year :)

MobileBits @ Google I/O

We are happy to be invited by Google to be one of the Google Sandbox developers with SoulCraft:

AltDevConf Mono Slides about C# in Games

Miguel de Icaza was speaking on the AltDev Conference a few days ago about .NET in games, especially C# with Mono.

There are some interesting points in the slides and some nice history leasons.

We are also honored to be both mentioned with our game SoulCraft and the Delta Engine is also mentioned at the end.
