Seattle 2010 - MVP Summit - Day 2 14. February 2010 Conferences, Fun, Reviews Comment (3) Today the weather was much nicer and some people I saw were even running around in t-shirts. I was having much more problems with Jet-Lag than in my last trips, that is probably because I got up so early and I do not stay up that late anymore. The day started for me by video chatting with my girlfriend back home (miss you ^^). Today is Valentines Day and it is pretty sad that I have to be this far away, but what can you do, there is only one MVP Summit a year and this event just rocks. My little netbook also makes me happy, the buildin camera is just great and aside from the slow CPU I can do anything I want with it. The weather is a little bit better, but still cloudy. The skyline of Seattle. Not sure if I am going to downtown today, still need to relax a little bit more from the long day yesterday. The good old elephant car wash sign is still up (and glowing at night). There is the Little Ducks Tour bus, but we are going to see more ducks today. I like this kind of pictures. You wont see this in games, this scene has just too many polygons. The Space Needle in Seattle Center, thats were I am going. This drive through pharmacy is also something strange IMO, we don't have things like that in Europe. The monorail is driving over my head. I am almost there. The good old Space Needle is still standing tall. But at this weather condition I am not going up there and watch a few meters into the mist. The Seattle Center house, I am going to eat something there later, but I had a good long breakfast today so I am not hungry right now. The Seattle Science Center looks more interesting right now. They have an exhibition about Mars today and it sounds kinda interesting. The other big attration is watching Avatar in the IMAX theatre, but I have already seen that movie. As you can see I did not jump over the fence, but instead bought a ticket .. at least this time :) Okay, time to visit Mars now. Photos were not allowed here and as you can see without a flash there is not much to see. The exhibition was so-so, lots of interesting topics, but more for kids and it was lacking details. Some kid fun stuff was interesting and I still enjoyed it (e.g. a bubble wall, how motors work, chaos pendulum, etc.) This little Mars Rover looked pretty cool and even though it is just a plastic dummy, you can imagine how big this thing is. Back outside there were some plastic sharks swimming around. Not sure why, I thought there are no sharks in this area (way too far north?) And then I saw this little nice duck, which I immediately greeted with "My name is exDreamDuck". And here you can see a little video of my new duck friend: Kids were also having lots of fun with the water pumps and general playground here. A little while later the Roving Mars movie started in the IMAX cinema, which was pretty good, but more about past missions than about any future ones. Some little dinosaurs, just for my girlfriend, she likes them :) Everyone else, look away! The other IMAX theatre is showing Avatar, which I already saw. Pretty crazy that this movie is so extremely popular and everyone likes 3D movies now. My late lunch was a couple of pizza slices, which were pretty tasty. I also got a big milkshake, which I drank for half an hour and then had enough (holy crap are things big here sometimes). While waking out the Seattle Center park I saw these native music guys and made a little video: Okay, why is this guy so far away from his girlfriend and still on the ground? He will not get the whole Space Needle and his girlfriend ever on this picture .. I walked by him and he still was trying .. I did not gave him the tip to get closer, he might figure it out by himself some day. A figure from the Music Experience building, which looks pretty funny. Last few years here the big MVP Summit party was held, but this time it will be in Bellevue as well as the rest of the conference. Why the hell is Mc Donalds still counting how many burger they have sold? 99 Billion and still counting? Wtf, who cares?. A power converter center in the middle of the city, strange. Also lots of construction going on here. A park and a church near my hotel. One last look at the other side of Seattle. I am pretty tired right now, I need a little nap .. rest of the day will be relaxing, playing some games and watching some movies in bed :)
